Sasuke and Itachi—their brotherhood made me think of my own brother

Sasuke’s anger and the path of revenge

Uchiha Sasuke. The younger brother who, since childhood, looked up to Itachi more than anyone.
And one day, a child who lost his entire family and clan at the hands of the brother he loved.
That’s how the story begins.

After that night, Sasuke changed completely.
Love turned into hatred, and his pure heart filled up with a thirst for revenge.
He had only one goal: to bring down his brother, Uchiha Itachi, with his own hands.

He entrusted himself to Orochimaru and grew stronger, even putting his soul up as collateral.

The final showdown with Itachi.
And the truth revealed within it.
That the massacre of the Uchiha clan wasn’t simply because his brother was cruel.
To protect Sasuke,
to save just one person—his most beloved little brother—
Itachi carried everything on his shoulders and walked away.

He narrowed the “surviving family” down to Sasuke alone,
and led him to pour all his hatred onto himself…
until, in the end, he brought things to the point where he would fall by Sasuke’s hand.

And in the final moment,
he didn’t dodge the shuriken—he took it himself,
and fell with the words, “You’ve really grown…”
Only then did his true feelings finally reach Sasuke.

A road you can’t turn back from, yet warmth that remains

But by then, it was already too late.
Because of his brother’s death, Sasuke gained the “Mangekyō Sharingan” and became even stronger.
Now his revenge no longer pointed at his brother, but at the entire village that gave the order.
He steps onto a path he can no longer return from.

And yet, in their story, I find a strange kind of comfort.
An older brother who hid his love and drew out hatred,
and a younger brother who held onto hatred without knowing love.
But in the end, their hearts still connected.

My brother, and the echo of brotherhood

I suddenly think of my own brother, too.
He doesn’t show his emotions much,
but he always supports me and helps me in the most practical ways. Sometimes his tone was blunt and a little hurtful,
but underneath it was deep trust.

He didn’t sacrifice everything like Itachi did,
but to me, he’s always been a steady source of support.

That’s why Itachi’s choice feels both painful and warm to me.
Someone who accepted becoming a monster for his younger brother.
In the end, that brother’s heart—trying to change his brother’s life with his own life—
might have been the deepest love in the world.
