The Profound Shift After Letting Go of Delivery Meals: Losing 5kg and the Miracle of Serene Energy

Hello. I am Seojun from Sinbi Days, active as a creator and martial artist 🙂
Many modern people habitually open delivery apps on their smartphones after finishing their day. To reward themselves for a hard day, they often choose intense foods like fried chicken, malatang, or jokbal (trotters). However, the moment you swallow that highly stimulating delivery food, a silent dopamine hijacking of our body and brain may begin.
Today, I would like to share my sincere journey of what changes have appeared in my body and mind through my personal experience with ‘delivery food restriction.’
1. Korea’s Delivery Culture and the Bare Face of a ‘Stimulation-Seeking Society’
While various delivery services exist abroad, it is rare to find an environment like Korea, where spicy and salty foods can be delivered quickly to your doorstep late into the night. A thought suddenly occurred to me: the reason Korea became a ‘delivery republic’ is not just for convenience, but perhaps because our society has become so accustomed to a culture that pursues intense stimulation.
Modern people, exhausted by stress and fatigue, try to fill their lack of rewards through ‘food’ which offers the easiest and fastest pleasure. However, the vast amount of seasonings, refined salt, sugar, and repeatedly heated oil used in delivery food to captivate the public’s taste buds can put a long-term burden on the body.
Many of you might have experienced feeling heavy all over, having a foggy head, or feeling incredibly sleepy after eating delivery food. Of course, it varies depending on individual digestion and meal size, but for me, it felt like more than just a simple food coma. It felt like a sensation similar to a ‘Dopamine Crash’—where the body and nerves are temporarily excited by a strong stimulus and then suddenly plummet.
2. The Journey of Cleaning Dopamine Receptors: Step-by-step Detox to Rule Yourself
My decision to control even delivery food—which was the last bastion of artificial dopamine—was like the final step in a journey of step-by-step detox to fully reclaim sovereignty over my life. I have trained myself by taking the following steps one by one:
- Step 1: No P-O-R-N and Celibacy — I distanced myself from repetitive sexual stimulation and trained myself to use my energy and focus elsewhere.
- Step 2: Media Detox — I separated my brain from stimulating short-form content and unnecessary SNS noise.
- Step 3: Low-Sodium Delivery Diet Transition — To reduce external stimuli, I chose a relatively clean, low-sodium diet instead of regular delivery food, and observed changes in my body’s swelling and body water.
- Step 4: Blocking News Articles — I distanced myself from the world’s negative news and unnecessary emotional consumption.
- Step 5: Complete Abstinence from Delivery Food — Finally, starting today, I have cut off dining out and delivery food, transitioning to a clean diet that I can personally select and manage.
(If you are curious about the specific principles of this dopamine purification process, please refer to my previous post [Dopamine Box] as well.)
Going through these steps, my brain transformed into a solid fortress that is not easily shaken by immediate rewards. As I cut off artificial dopamine one by one, distinct changes began to appear in my attitude toward life and the speed of my growth, completely different from the past.
3. Transcendence of Physical Gifted by a Low-Sodium, Clean Diet
As I reduced delivery food and maintained a clean diet that minimizes sodium and stimulating seasonings, amazing changes began to manifest in my body.
- 5kg Weight Loss in Progress: As unnecessary body water causing bloating drained away, I lost about 5kg in a relatively short period. If I lose about 2 to 3 more kilograms stably, I will get much closer to my target of a sharp, defined physical.
- Enhanced Nervous System Recovery: Even the day after intense MMA and Jiu-Jitsu training, my nervous system and mental fatigue felt significantly less than before. Reducing unnecessary stimuli seemed to allow my body to focus more on recovery.
- Faster and Stronger Physical Reactions: As my body became lighter, my reaction speed and range of movement during sparring improved noticeably. In particular, my lower-body power, such as my performance in weighted jump squats, is steadily growing. I look forward to experiencing a lighter, more refreshed feeling when waking up in the morning as my diet stabilizes further.
(Much of the growth in nature does not show a steady linear line, but rather an exponential flow that accelerates at some point. For more details, please [Read the post on exponential growth]. The accelerating speed of growth is not a special miracle, but perhaps just a pattern repeated in nature.)
4. The Essence of True Happiness: Clear Energy Radiating from Stillness
In the past, I thought the feelings I got when eating delicious delivery food or consuming strong visual stimuli were ‘happiness.’ I also feared that daily life without such stimulation would be boring and empty.
But it was only after I reduced delivery food and brushed away the stimulation as if wiping my dopamine receptors clean that I finally realized. The peace obtained by escaping from stimulation is by no means a boring emptiness.
It was a state where bright and strong energy rose quietly from deep within. It was a sense of peace where I felt already sufficient and complete without having to force anything more into myself.
Now, even when I am just sitting quietly, I feel moments where clear and happy energy wells up. Along with the stillness of not having to constantly want something, I also feel a powerful sense that a formidable force lies latent within me, ready to break through any massive obstacle if I set my mind to it.
True freedom and transcendence of life begin with choosing and controlling the food that enters my mouth and the stimuli that enter my brain. I encourage you to set down your delivery apps for a moment and experience the deep, clear peace that blossoms where stimulation has faded 😀
Thank you for being with me today.
