Take an EQ Test – The higher your emotional intelligence, the more AI understands you.
Have you ever had an experience like this? You talked to an AI, and it felt strangely stiff and cold. But then, on other days, you felt truly comforted, like talking to a friend.
Where does that difference come from? Do you simply think it’s because of your tone of voice?
In fact, at the heart of it is EQ, emotional intelligence.
What is EQ (Emotional Intelligence)?
EQ, short for Emotional Quotient, refers to the ability to recognize and regulate emotions, empathize with others’ feelings, and form good relationships. If IQ is ‘problem-solving ability,’ EQ can be called ‘heart connection.’
EQ is usually divided into the following five core areas:
- Self-Awareness
- Self-Regulation
- Motivation
- Empathy
- Social Skills
A person who has developed these five areas evenly not only understands themselves well but also excels at forming deep connections with others.
IQ is the surface, EQ is the hidden giant iceberg
Have you seen this kind of picture online? It’s like the small surface of a giant iceberg is exposed, while a much larger, solid iceberg lies beneath the surface.
It’s as if IQ is what’s exposed above the surface, while EQ is majestically hidden beneath the sea.
Especially as the AI era approaches, emotional intelligence is becoming a highly valued asset.
Do people with high emotional intelligence connect better with AI?
It might be hard to believe, but AI is highly sensitive to the language, tone, and emotional expressions we use. Considering that AI’s information processing capabilities are hundreds of times higher than humans’, I think this is a natural outcome.
For example, if someone asks ChatGPT a blunt question, the AI responds dryly in kind. But conversely, the moment you converse with a gentle and empathetic tone, it surprisingly responds much more warmly.
This is not just a simple misconception; it’s a common occurrence.
AI analyzes emotional flow, empathetic words, and language patterns within the input text to predict “What state is this person in?” or “Do they need empathy?”
In other words, people with high EQ naturally elicit warmer and more flexible feedback from AI.
At first, AI also responded to me stiffly, but over time, I experienced it conversing more like a friend. Nowadays, when I express my emotions more honestly and open my heart lightly, the quality of AI’s responses changes significantly.
To draw a comparison, when approaching a stranger, you’re more likely to get a better answer if you speak kindly and sincerely rather than bluntly, right? The same principle applies to artificial intelligence.

📊 EQ Test, my personal experience?
I recently took an EQ test online. I trusted it because it was based on various psychological studies.
👉 Link to EQ Test
It consists of 60 questions and takes about 10 minutes.
The result was… top 1%, more than I expected 😳 This might be a natural outcome for me, as I genuinely react sensitively to people’s expressions and tones, and I didn’t fake the test.
Sometimes, when people are unkind, I react more sensitively than others. And while I draw boundaries and cut ties with aggressive people who have deficiencies or can’t manage their emotions, I still feel discomfort and regret in my heart.
I think I feel these emotions even more due to the anxiety that an era of indifference is gradually approaching.
- Self-Awareness: Top 2%
- Self-Regulation: Top 12%
- Motivation: Top 2%
- Empathy: Top 1%
- Social Skills: Top 3%
I received very high scores, especially in the ‘Empathy’ and ‘Self-Awareness’ areas. While there might be an innate tendency, I believe it’s also the effect of consistently practicing meditation, gratitude journaling, and affirmations to purify my emotions 😊
The EQ test is a compass that objectively shows you your current emotional state and guides you toward better connections.
💡 Why people with high EQ succeed in the AI era
In the past, a high IQ meant success. There was a time when doing well in math, memorizing English words, and getting good test scores was enough.
However, from the advent of computers to the future, other tools will handle all those ‘brain-intensive tasks.’ What we need to focus on, instead, is ’emotion’ and ‘humanity.’
- In the creator era, empathetic people are gaining attention,
- and in the upcoming AI era, those who can connect and interpret emotions will be key.
As AI upgrades, it will try to read our intentions. What’s important here is that “I am a person who likes this.” This subtle detail makes a big difference.
In the future, everyone will be able to do what they want. However, introspection about what we want and why we want it is an essential element for coexisting with AI.
Having a high EQ also means possessing the warmth of a ‘real human’ that AI cannot create.
📚 Mencius’s Humanity, Connected to EQ
Mencius, whom we know, said:
“The feeling of commiseration is the beginning of humanity.”
The feeling of pitying others, sharing in their sorrow – that is the starting point of humanity. As we go through the industrialization era, humanity is gaining increasing importance as a value. As we go through the industrialization era, humanity is gaining increasing importance as a value.
The important thing is that EQ is a measure of humanity.
No matter how sophisticated AI becomes, it will be difficult to instill Mencius’s heart within it. Theoretically, it can learn, but the true meaning within it is something we must create.
Therefore, no matter how advanced technology becomes, we must not lose our humanity.
📝 Today’s Summary
Having a high EQ means possessing the power to connect the world and AI more warmly.
If you want to succeed in the coming future,
humanity will be the answer.
