Straighten Your Back and Everything Awakens – CNS, Proper Posture, and the Secret of Alertness
Hello, this is Shinbi Days.
Today, I’ll explain why you should straighten your back,
in a slightly more scientific way. ✨
🌱 Why Do You Feel So Awake When You Straighten Your Back?
Our body has a system called the CNS, or central nervous system.
Simply put, it’s the command center that directs alertness and energy.
Many stimulants sold on the market work by stimulating this nervous system.
“I’m going to focus now!”
“I’m tired… I want to rest…”
These brain responses are managed in real time by the CNS.
You’ve probably had coffee before, right?
The caffeine in coffee stimulates the central nervous system,
producing an alertness effect.
Of course, if you dig deeper,
there’s also the mechanism involving adenosine,
but simply put, it produces the effect of CNS arousal.
🧠 So Where Exactly Is This CNS Located?
Specifically,
it’s concentrated in the ‘spinal cord’ and ‘brainstem’ areas that run along the spine and brain.
Especially when the alignment of the spine from the lower back to the neck collapses,
the CNS can trigger ‘drowsiness,’ ‘confusion,’ and ‘stress responses.’
In fact, just by keeping your back straight,
I’ve experienced reduced sensitivity, better focus,
and increased motivation.
And as your mood stabilizes, you become calmer
and feel less mental fatigue.
Of course, it’s physically demanding at first.
You’re using muscles in your body that you haven’t used before.
But most people adapt quickly
and actually find proper posture more comfortable.
🔥 What Happens When You Straighten Your Back?

- Improved oxygen supply
- Increased alertness through improved blood flow
- Core energy activation through stable abdominal pressure
- Restored connection between brain and body
- Maintained slim belly shape (when not due to body fat)
- Reduced inflammation in the body
Most importantly,
The signal of awareness that “I am awake now”
begins to spread throughout your body via the CNS.
Straightening your back is a posture that symbolizes awakening.
The central nervous system is especially active during exercise.
The more activated your CNS is, the more strength you can generate,
and your agility and core ability increase, boosting overall performance.
But interestingly,
when the central nervous system is aroused,
you might notice your body is moving but your brain feels tired.
You might be exercising
but it feels extremely difficult
and you might feel drained.
This is actually a good sign that your CNS has increased!
When you actually feel this way
and look at your performance results,
you’ll see you’re handling heavier weights than usual
and your exercise performance has improved.
So rather than your subjective feelings,
if you look at objective performance ability,
you can experience what impact CNS has!
By the way, it can balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
They’re responsible for alertness and rest!
If your autonomic nervous system is unstable, please try living with your back straight 🙂
✍️ Try It Starting Today!
- When sitting in a chair, place your weight on the center of your hips
- Gently pull in your belly button and lift your rib cage
- Pull in your chin and feel like you’re lifting the crown of your head toward the sky!
- Don’t lean heavily on your arms; maintain your posture with your back and legs
Just by doing this,
you can feel energy + focus + emotional stability
all at once.
At first, your back or hips might feel stiff.
I started this morning too,
and my hips felt sore,
and the muscles along my mid-trapezius area felt tense.
But by afternoon,
maintaining this posture became much easier.
Maybe because I exercise a lot, I adapted quickly 🙂
💬 Final Thought
Straightening your back isn’t just posture correction.
It’s the first magic that awakens your nervous system. It’s the positive energy of feeling ‘I’m in control of everything right now.’
📌 There are also signs of CNS fatigue,
and if many of you are curious, I’ll write about that too.
Straighten your back today and have a day with your whole body aligned 🌿
