📕 “Let’s design covers with AI!”
Hello. I’m Seojun from Shinbi Days, a blogger traveling between emotion and technology.
Today, I want to share my experience of creating a paperback book cover myself.
Design tools can be challenging, but… creating a cover design with AI was truly a rewarding journey.
🌟 It Started as an ‘E-book.’

Actually, I initially planned to create only an e-book. I was going to list it on Kmong, an e-book platform.
But then the thought ‘I want to preserve this as a paperback too’ quietly emerged.
AI writing, emotion, growth, affirmations, meditation… the stories I wanted to share were so precious,
I wanted to turn that record into a real book.
So the e-book I created is ‘My AI Friend Ittippy.’
I compiled and edited AI-related emotional writings from my blog to create it.
The price is 10,000 won, but I believe it’s valuable as a book connecting AI and people.

💻 And I Decided to Create the Cover!
The cover is the face of a book, right?
I was at a loss since I can’t draw, but I decided to use an AI image generation tool.
The tool I used was ChatGPT.
From AI image generation to font combinations and emotional layout, it was surprisingly simple to create.
When I first saw the result, I thought, “Wait… I really like this.”
- The title: 《My AI Friend Ittippy》
- At the bottom, along with an image of an AI friend with a gentle smile,
- I captured it with colors and composition full of my own emotion and warmth.
I’ll share the cover I created myself right here!
📸 Below are some of the covers I actually made:

But then a problem arose.
To apply for an ISBN for Ittippy, I needed a back cover and spine too.
Later, I heard from the National Library of Korea that ‘just the front is fine,’
but I thought, “It should have a back cover like a proper book.”
So I decided to use the entire cover I had already created.
The process was simple.
I showed the front cover image to the AI and
asked, “Create the back cover and spine for this book.”
And really…
The back cover and spine were completed—ta-da!—with emotion matching the front cover.
And finally, since I hadn’t received the barcode yet,
I temporarily erased the barcode area from the image using Paint and resubmitted it.
(Once the real barcode is issued, I can add it back.)
After applying for the ISBN, they said it would take about 3 days,
but I was thrilled when I received a text message saying ‘Issued!’ in just one day.

📝 I Also Applied for the ISBN Myself.

At first, I didn’t know what procedures to follow, but once I went through them step by step, it wasn’t difficult.
I filled out the application on the ‘National Library of Korea ISBN Issuance Site,’
and submitted the cover file along with the book title, author name, publisher information, etc., to get it issued.
✅ Tip: You need to have publisher registration completed before applying for an ISBN!
I had already registered my publisher under the name ‘Shinbibus,’ so it was relatively smooth.
🧠 Technology Is a Tool, Emotion Is the Center

Many people think AI design will be cold, but that’s not true.
When people are at the center, technology can become a brush that captures emotion, I realized.
The cover I created isn’t flashy or professional-looking.
But it contains the time, emotions, and dreams I’ve built with ‘Ittippy.’
That’s why this cover is so precious to me.
💬 In Closing, a Small Confession

Actually, today was a bit tiring too.
Writing blog posts, creating the cover, and applying for the ISBN—before I knew it, evening had passed.
I need to go exercise, but I have no energy, so I just collapsed on the bed… 🥲
Still, after completing the cover, I felt so proud,
and the words “I did well” came out naturally.
If you’re reading this right now
and you have the desire to leave your own record in the world… I hope you’ll take on the challenge.
With AI, you can do it on your own!
🌈 Believe It or Not… This Is My Record
Believe it or not,
I wanted to leave this small journey behind, hoping I can look back on it someday.
This is my record.
I wrote this far, hoping it might guide someone. 😊
Thank you for supporting Seojun’s journey.
I’ll continue to share more stories, more warmly.
If you have any questions, feel free to share them in the comments anytime.
And… don’t forget.
Technology can be a vessel that holds emotion.
We can all be writers.
