They say 2025 is the Samjae year for those born in the Year of the Pig, but I see it differently.
But I call it ‘the Year of Growth.’
People say that 2025 is the Samjae year for me, as I was born in the Year of the Pig. I often see advice like, “Be careful,” and “Don’t overdo it,” online.
However, even after hearing this, I didn’t feel that way. Instead, a quiet, opposing voice echoed in my mind.
“Now is the time to make myself stronger.”
“Suffering inevitably brings immense growth.”
Is Samjae really a bad period?
Samjae is often said to be a year filled with hardships and prone to accidents. But I see it differently. I feel that Samjae is not simply a year of bad luck, but a period of trials for significant life growth.
Of course, I’m not saying there won’t be difficulties. But I want to use this time to learn how to overcome pain.
If you endure the pain, good things will surely come. Great peace, a very quiet realization, and growth.
So, I won’t try to avoid this year; instead, I intend to face this period head-on.
I want to call it a year for accelerating growth, a year to put in a little more effort than usual.
So, here are the things I want to achieve this year:
To make this period a time of growth, I, born in the Year of the Pig, have set the following goals:
- Achieve over 460kg in the three main lifts
- Successfully perform one-arm pull-ups + wearing a 7.5-10kg weighted vest
- Maintain a high-energy physical and mental state
- Successfully perform dragon flags + with 5kg ankle weights attached
- Record a grip strength of over 85kg in one attempt
- One-arm handstand push-ups (successfully without feet touching)
These goals aren’t just set for the sake of records. They are my own way of enduring pain and a discipline to strengthen myself during Samjae.
I, born in the Year of the Pig, keep moving forward.

People often say, “Things will get better once Samjae passes.” But I have a different perspective.
I believe that things improve not because Samjae ends, but because I’ve become stronger by going through it.
So, today, I train.
My body, my mind, myself!
In other words, I see Samjae as a time for us to grow.
It’s okay if it’s a little tough. If we overcome this period, we will surely become stronger and more resilient than before.
And after that time passes,
I want to quietly smile and say this:
“Samjae? I… really grew a lot during that time.”
“Because of Samjae, I reached my goals faster.”
“Samjae is a year of growth.”
This has been Shinbi Days.
Thank you 🙂
