Suhee0: Why She’s Been Unhappy for Over 200 Episodes — It’s Because the Algorithm Is Designed That Way

Hello, everyone,
Do you know the Naver webtoon Suhee0(tngmlek0)? 🙂
This webtoon, serialized since 2021, is about the world of internet broadcast streamers. Early on, it was praised for its realistic portrayal—top-tier views in just 5 episodes, and over 200,000 followers by episode 18. And that was from a rookie creator.
So I went back in after a long time because I was curious about the story again. And now?
Even after 200+ episodes, the main character is still stuck in nothing but misery. 🥹
😮 “So realistic” — That comment bothered me a bit

Recently, there was a scene where her ex, Minwoo, has a sexual relationship with Suhee while he already has a girlfriend. And the comments looked like this.
“This is real life”
“So realistic”
“If you don’t get this, you’re just young”
“You really don’t know the real world”
There were a few “likes,” too.
But wait… something existing in real life and it being okay are completely different things.
Murder exists in real life, too. So if a webtoon glamorizes murder, do we just end it with “so realistic”..? 🤔
What’s even funnier is that when I actually asked the people shouting “this is real life,”
“Have you ever seen it yourself?”
They all said no. “My friend said so.” “Someone said so.” “I saw it online.”
It was all hearsay 😅
📱 Algorithms distort the world

Sensational content drives clicks. More clicks mean the algorithm shows it more. And the more you see it, the more it looks like “this is what the whole world is like.”
But when you actually go outside, the vibe is different. ☀️
People are bright. They’re sincere. Honestly, it can even make someone quiet like me feel a little sorry.
The people loudly yelling “this is real life” in the comments are actually a tiny minority. Psychologically, they tend to be anxious attachment types—people who constantly gather “evidence” to justify their own anxiety.
“See? The whole world is like this. I’m not the weird one.”
And the people who mock others often have avoidant attachment.
Even when it’s true, their pride gets hurt, so they immediately treat the other person like an idiot.
In other words, it’s “gaslighting.” 😶
That’s the core of comment-section psychology.
👉 My experience with avoidant attachment
✊ Even in the comments, justice is winning
Comment sections attract unstable people you rarely meet in real life—but even there, the top “best comment” was a reasonable take with 658 likes.
“If Suhee knew he had a girlfriend, she shouldn’t have called him over no matter how hard it was”
Even if a small number of strange people get loud, most people still know what’s right.
In other words, far more people just quietly hit “like” and moved on.
Maybe they think even getting involved in that kind of fight is a waste of time.
Sorry to say it, but strange people have no influence in real life at all. 😌
🎯 So what’s the real problem with Suhee0?
The work itself may not be bad. It really does sharply dig into the dark side of internet broadcasting.
But piling on nothing but misery for over 200 episodes doesn’t feel like simple “realism.” It’s a misery-porn structure that squeezes the reader’s emotions to make them click the next episode.
“Maybe it’ll get better now…”
Holding readers with that single hope is the strategy.
What’s more serious is that it’s a platform even elementary school kids use. 😔
At an age without filters or critical thinking, they watch scenes like that and read those comments, and end up learning, “So this is what dating is like.”
Creators have responsibility. Simply throwing out刺激 and delivering a message are not the same thing.

By the way, did you know that while some novels and webtoons are plotted directly by the creator,
most follow established formulas?
Everything—from character personalities to storylines—has been laid out in books.
I don’t know how the creator of Suhee0 made it,
but I think they may have taken that storyline and filled it in by wrapping it with elements of misery.
Early on, it exposed internet broadcasting,
and the realistic parts made it relatable,
and I really liked the characters’ innocence~ 🌱
This is personal, but I tend to dislike negativity.
Maybe because I have a Type A personality,
once I see something, I keep linking it to sensational, unhappy scenarios in other situations, too.
So that part really felt like a shame while reading the comic~ 🥲
The world is better than you think. 🌏
The comment section isn’t the whole world, and what the algorithm shows you isn’t the whole of reality.
Step outside for a bit and you’ll feel it.
If you found my blog by searching the keyword Suhee0, you probably came to check that, too.
Welcome. I wrote this for people like you. I hope you sleep peacefully tonight 🌙
Thank you.
