Refund Success Through Consumer Dispute! Google Subscription Refund Review (feat. Hyundai Card)

Hello! I’m Seojun, a blogger walking the line between emotion and practicality 🙂
Today, based on my personal experience from a few years ago with a Google Play app payment refund,
I’ll share everything about subscription refunds, dispute claims, and dealing with card companies!
Real case + tips packed with useful information.
Once upon a time, on a day when I was preparing to start a business…
I purchased a 1-year subscription on Class101 to take courses.
The price was around 100,000–200,000 won, which was a lot of money for me at the time.
But after taking a few courses… well, I realized this wasn’t for me.
It wasn’t that they weren’t helpful, but a 1-year subscription…? 🥲
So I tried to request a refund!
❌ Class101’s response:
“In-app purchases cannot be refunded.”
“What… really…?”
🔎 What I Did
1. Extensive Internet Research
I searched for things like ‘Google Play in-app purchase refund’ and ‘course refund legal standards,’ and found that
online course subscriptions can be refunded within a certain period according to legal provisions.
2. Contacted Class101 Customer Service
“We’re sorry. We can’t do anything about Google in-app purchases.”
I felt conflicted.
I knew it wasn’t the customer service staff’s fault… but I felt so wronged.
3. Called the Consumer Protection Agency
This was my first time calling the consumer protection agency,
and I explained my situation with genuine desperation…
“Request a refund directly from your card company.”
‘??? I made the payment through Class101, but to the card company…?’
I had many questions at the time,
but now I understand. Card companies also bear some responsibility as part of payment services!
🙋♂️ Finally Called Hyundai Card Customer Service!

I called with a nervous heart,
and the representative responded with such a kind voice.
Me:
“It’s an in-app purchase and they said refunds aren’t possible…
I heard courses are legally refundable,
so I called the consumer protection agency
and they told me to contact the card company…”
Representative:
“Ah, yes, customer. I’ll help you file a dispute claim. The process is…”
And so
- Consumer dispute claim filed
- Necessary information organized
- Results notified via text
They explained everything very kindly.
And a few days later…
Finally!
✅ Dispute claim won!
✅ Card company refund completed!
Already paid amounts were refunded to my account, and unpaid amounts were canceled!
That day, I became an adult.
(More accurately, a cute guy pretending to be an adult…🤭)
Those days when I staked my life on 200,000 won… goodbye to that version of me who was a champion of justice!
Key Tips Summary
✔️ Can Google Play in-app purchases be refunded?
Yes! Legally, educational products can be eligible for refunds under certain conditions.
✔️ Don’t give up even if they say refunds aren’t possible
‘Not possible’ is just the company’s policy—legally, consumer rights are much stronger.
✔️ Follow this order!
- First request a refund from the company (save emails/payment records)
- If that doesn’t work, file a dispute with your card company (call customer service)
- If you explain sincerely, they’ll help you kindly
✔️ If you win the dispute?
- Payment cancellation or account refund
- Processing usually takes a few days
International payments can also be disputed!

Recently, I received Sora2 from an overseas site called ‘Deevid AI,’
but it had a payment system that gave far fewer credits compared to the official site.
Looking closer, Deevid AI was just a reseller,
and the actual official Sora2 site had much better benefits!
So I filed an international payment dispute for this payment too!
Final Thoughts
Companies just follow procedures,
but the law protects consumer rights.
At first you think ‘Will this work?’
But if you try, it works. And it does work.
Even if it’s just 10,000 won, if you feel wronged,
don’t ignore that feeling—
move forward with courage.
That process makes you a more genuine consumer. 😊
Start filing a consumer dispute this way 💌
- Call your card company’s customer service (these days many do it online)
- Briefly organize the situation (when, where, how much, why you’re requesting a refund)
- Attach records of your refund request to the service
Don’t give up. That courage ultimately protects you.
