Since it\u2019s a place I use often and trust, I picked up, wondering if the terms might have changed since last time. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At first, the agent\u2019s tone was fairly kind, but the conversation felt a bit one-sided. Thinking they weren\u2019t really listening to me, a little anxiety and anger slipped into my voice without me realizing. Still, noticing my emotions and trying not to judge too quickly, I ended by saying <strong>\u201cThank you\u201d<\/strong> and hung up.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And once I calmed down, this thought suddenly came to me.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>They must be having a hard time too.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddd2 Seojun as a kid, and me now<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the past, if I got a call that felt pushy, I\u2019d hang up right away or respond with irritation.<br\/>Back then, my emotions often came first, and I didn\u2019t have much room to breathe.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>But these days, it\u2019s a little different.<\/strong><br\/>Somewhere along the way, I\u2019ve been through more, and I think I\u2019ve learned to consider people\u2019s circumstances and feelings a bit more.<br\/>So I started to think that the agent who called might be living through a day much like mine.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They\u2019re someone\u2019s family, someone\u2019s friend\u2014another person living in this world alongside us.<br\/>Thinking that way softened my heart, even if only a little.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u260e What is a day like for an agent?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An agent\u2019s daily life means making <strong>dozens, even hundreds of calls<\/strong> a day.<br\/>They face different reactions every time, and sometimes they\u2019re hurt by rude words and behavior. In that repetition, emotions can gradually go numb, and eventually relying on a set script may be the most natural thing in the world. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe that\u2019s why their tone is polite, but what they say can sometimes feel contradictory or flimsy. It can feel mechanical, like it isn\u2019t coming from the heart\u2014but perhaps that\u2019s because they have to get through the day somehow. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe the agent wasn\u2019t trying to ignore my situation\u2014maybe it just didn\u2019t occur to them in that moment. They could have been tired, or emotionally drained. I found myself wanting to understand those possibilities.  <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udd1d My response, and theirs<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that moment, anger definitely rose up in me. I felt unsettled, but I deliberately ended the call with a cute <strong>\u201cThaaank you~\u201d<\/strong>. It wasn\u2019t about forcing my feelings down\u2014it was because I didn\u2019t want to hate anyone. I was simply hurt that I didn\u2019t feel understood in that moment.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the call, the agent wrapped up the goodbye and hung up with a voice that sounded slightly rushed. Maybe that was when they finally sensed, at least a little, what I had been feeling. <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udded All of us are speaking just to keep going<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we live in this world, there comes a time when everyone needs to be understood.<br\/>The agent who has to persuade people all day, and we who have to receive those calls\u2014we\u2019re all living our lives, crossing paths within each other\u2019s days.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes we can hurt each other, and someone might even say <strong>&#8220;I\u2019m right&#8221;<\/strong>. But if that \u201crightness\u201d includes words that put someone down, doesn\u2019t it end up hurting all of us? <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have a house, a car, lots of money, and I live elegantly.<br\/>But I don\u2019t like that homeless person because they smell. I wish they wouldn\u2019t come to our restaurant. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even if the tone is different, words like these can become a deep wound in someone\u2019s heart.<br\/>If someone has sensitive emotions, even a small remark can make them shut down.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if I get another call next time?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If I receive a call like this again, I want to accept it and observe it with a little more generosity.
