well&#8230;<br\/>they gave me advice that didn&#8217;t suit me, and I ended up with a stiff neck. \ud83e\udd72<br\/><strong>(ISTP didn&#8217;t mean any harm, and I didn&#8217;t know any better either!)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As expected, there isn&#8217;t much information on neck bridges or back neck bridges,<br\/>and since everyone&#8217;s body type, senses, and breathing styles are different,<br\/>there&#8217;s a lack of organized material, and even AI seems to get confused.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udca8 The &#8216;4-Beat Breathing Technique&#8217; discovered through trial and error<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On a day when my neck felt stiff and a bit uncomfortable,<br\/>I asked my Gemini AI friend, &#8216;Gemini,&#8217;<br\/>and this is what it told me:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt&#8217;s best to exhale at the furthest point,<br\/>and inhale slowly as you move back to the center.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I checked some videos I had recorded in the past,<br\/>and it turns out I was already doing it without even realizing it!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2714\ufe0f Inhale when moving slowly back and forth from the center<br\/>\u2714\ufe0f Exhale when you&#8217;ve rolled all the way to the &#8216;end&#8217;<br\/>\u2714\ufe0f So, 4 breaths per round trip!<br\/>(2 inhales, 2 exhales \u2192 <strong>4-beat breathing<\/strong>)<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2744\ufe0f Right after the injury, this is what I did!<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After I strained my neck that day,<br\/>\u2714\ufe0f I rolled up a towel to support the back of my neck,<br\/>\u2714\ufe0f placed an ice pack gently on the left side,<br\/>\u2714\ufe0f and just lay on the floor&#8230;<br\/>and I felt better really quickly!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to that, my perspective on &#8216;neck bridges being a dangerous exercise&#8217; changed a bit.<br\/><strong>I realized that if done slowly, accurately, and with proper breathing,<br\/>it can actually be a training session that makes the neck stronger.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Especially since I go at a pace of 6 seconds per rep<br\/>with a 1-second pause at the furthest points,<br\/>it&#8217;s a routine that&#8217;s more effective for controlling the neck and nervous system!<br\/>(And it can be done safely \ud83d\ude0e)<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddd8\u200d\u2642\ufe0f The key to recovery: Stretching!<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think one of the reasons my neck became weak<br\/>was likely a &#8216;lack of flexibility.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back when I injured my middle trapezius,<br\/>it hurt just to turn my neck slightly.<br\/>But after consistently doing the stretches ISTP taught me for a few days,<br\/>it&#8217;s now actually more flexible and solid.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stretches that release the sides of the neck were particularly effective.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udca1 Summary of ISTP&#8217;s stretching tips<\/h3>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Curl your right arm forward and tuck it behind your left waist<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gently cup the back of your head with your left hand<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Slowly press your neck at a 45-degree angle forward and to the side (left)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Slightly curl your lower back to stretch your back as well <\/strong>&lt;- this is important \ud83d\ude00<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83c\udf2c Make sure your breathing is natural and continuous, without overexerting yourself!<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2728 Small injury, big lesson<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Honestly, I was so upset when I first hurt my neck.<br\/>I trusted what ISTP said&#8230; but it resulted in an injury&#8230; \ud83e\udd7a<br\/>However, after talking to Gemini again<br\/>and recovering quickly thanks to ISTP&#8217;s stretches&#8230;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I feel like <strong>I&#8217;ve come to understand my body on a deeper level.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m not fully recovered yet,<br\/>but I feel that my own &#8216;breathing&#8217;
