I locked eyes with an unidentified guest in front of the bathroom<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Last night, I opened the door to go to the bathroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And there, right in the middle of the light, stood A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I froze instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Well… who are you supposed to be…?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

A froze for a moment too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I needed to use the bathroom,
A had no idea why it was there either,
but somehow, we had discovered each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a few seconds,
an incredibly awkward silence filled the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the more I thought about it,
the more I realized A was probably just as startled as I was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From A’s perspective:
“Oh… I just came in because it was dark…”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“It’s a human.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: “Huh?”

A: “Huh?”

Me:
“What on earth is this guy?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

A:
“What on earth is this guy?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It’s still funny when I think about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was startled by A,
and A was startled by me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To each other, we were unidentified beings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I retreated into the bathroom for the time being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I thought to myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘What am I supposed to do with this guy…?’<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strangely enough,
A didn’t attack me,
nor did it come any closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It simply stood there for a while,
slowly changed direction,
and disappeared into the dark utility room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It almost felt as if it were saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was startled too…”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

When I think about it, it’s quite strange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we go through life,
we often misunderstand people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes we think someone is trying to hurt us,
when in reality, they may have been afraid too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes we think someone dislikes us,
when perhaps they simply didn’t know how to approach us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A was like that last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I thought A was dangerous,
and A may have thought I was some enormous monster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, we both ran away from each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No one won,
and no one lost.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We simply returned to our own worlds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By this morning, A was nowhere to be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t know whether it left the house,
or whether it’s hiding somewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But strangely enough,
thinking about A still makes me smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last night, in front of my bathroom,
I found myself engaged in a philosophical standoff with an unidentified life form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world is more entertaining than we think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And sometimes,
even the smallest incidents can make a day feel special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wherever you are, stay healthy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just not in my house.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
